Introduction

I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve talked about memory foam! It’s one of my favorite products to write about, and I love sharing the facts with you. So… today we’ll talk about memory foam! You know what it is and what it does, but there are things you might not know about this product that you may find helpful in your buying journey.

What is memory foam?

What is memory foam?

It’s a type of polyurethane foam, which is used in mattresses, pillows, and other furniture. Memory foam was first developed by NASA in 1966 to be used as shock absorbers for aircrafts. It is made to be soft but spring back to its original shape after pressure is removed from it. This makes memory foam ideal for mattresses because it can mold around us so that we feel comfortable and supported when sleeping or sitting on the seat of our favorite car!

Whats different about memory foam?

Memory foam is a type of polyurethane foam. This material is softer and more comfortable than traditional foams, which makes it ideal for mattresses and pillows.

It’s also denser than regular foam (such as the kind you find in a mattress). This means that it has better support, meaning your body won’t sink into the memory foam when you lay down on it. It also means that this type of foam will last longer than other types of foam because there are fewer points where pressure can break through the material or cause rips or tears in its surface.

What are the benefits of a memory foam mattress?

Memory foam mattresses are comfortable and supportive. A memory foam mattress can be molded to your body shape for the perfect fit. It will cradle you, allowing you to relax and fall asleep quickly.

Memory foam is also durable, hypoallergenic, affordable and easy to clean! That’s a lot of benefits!

The most important benefit of memory foam is that it’s made in the USA (or in a green facility). You’ll have peace of mind knowing that no animals were harmed during the manufacture process since there are no animal products used in making this type of bedding material. Many people are also concerned about where their products come from so purchasing something like this means they won’t have any worries about what’s being used while creating their purchase!

Why does temperature affect memory foam?

And while you can’t control the temperature of your bedroom, you can take certain precautions to ensure that your memory foam mattress remains cool. Here’s a few tips:

  • Use a high quality cover. Memory foams are sensitive to changes in temperature and will deteriorate faster if they’re covered with a cheap or highly absorbent fabric like cotton. A high-quality cover will help insulate the sleeper from any external temperatures, keeping it cool and comfortable throughout the night.
  • Consider buying an air conditioner for your room—but not one that blows directly on the bed! An air conditioner is great for keeping things cool, but it’s important not to let it blow directly onto the bed itself since this could damage or deform your new memory foam mattress over time (as well as being really loud). You should instead set up some kind of barrier between yourself and the AC so that its cold breath doesn’t reach straight through into your nice comfy sleeping space

What about smell?

There are a lot of things people don’t know about memory foam mattresses. The biggest one is probably that they smell.

Memory foam is made of polyurethane, which is a synthetic polymer used to make many different products, such as furniture and clothing. Polyurethane is petroleum-based, so it smells like petroleum when it’s new. There’s no way around this—it’s just how the material works. But after about one week of being aired out in an open room (not in an enclosed box) with fresh air circulating around it daily, most mattresses lose enough odor that you won’t notice any smell at all!

What about cleaning?

How often should I clean my mattress?

You should clean your memory foam mattress at least once every two years to keep mold, dust mites and other allergens from affecting your sleep. To do so:

  • Remove all bedding from the bed.
  • Use a vacuum with an upholstery attachment to suck up any dust, hair or other debris on the surface of the mattress. If there is no way to get underneath it (for example if it’s an innerspring or hybrid), you can use a smaller brush attachment along with wet wipes instead of having to take off anything else; however, it’s best not to let these items sit for long periods of time before cleaning them as they’re likely not comfortable against skin/hairspray/etc..

Memory foam mattresses can be very comfortable.

Memory foam mattresses can be very comfortable. But they can also be expensive, so make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into before buying one. Memory foam mattresses are great for people who are overweight and tall. They’re also good for people with back pain because of their ability to conform to your body’s shape for optimal support and comfort
