How Our Calculator Works

Introduction

We know how hard it is to do something for a first time and we know how important it is to get it right. Our goal was to help make cutting foam board easier, so that people could spend less time worrying about finding the perfect tools and more time enjoying creating their projects. We’ve always tried to create an experience where all you have to focus on is getting your project done. After receiving feedback from our customers and non-customers, one thing kept coming up: “I wish I’d known about this sooner!” So we took steps to help create a better experience for everyone, starting with the project planning phase. You’ll notice that the calculator is not just a tool for determining how many tiles you’ll need. The calculator allows you to specify which tools you’re using, so that it can factor those in as well. If you don’t have all of these tools, fear not! There’s some great instructions in our blog posts that’ll show you what else you can use instead.

We decided to create a foam board calculator for the same reason we started this website: to help people learn how to cut foam board.

We decided to create a foam board calculator for the same reason we started this website: to help people learn how to cut foam board.

We wanted a step-by-step approach that would be easy for beginners (or even experienced users) to understand, so we started with the basics. We looked at all of the ways you could cut foam board and how each method worked differently. Then we made it easier by adding in our own special secret sauce (the whole point of this article).

We know how hard it is to do something for a first time and we know how important it is to get it right.

  • To get started, we talked with our customers about how they were using foam board in their projects and what was working for them.
  • We took the data we collected and created a calculator that calculates how much material you need to buy based on the size of your project.
  • If you need help figuring out which materials will work best for your project, check out our extensive library of learning resources!

We’ve always tried to create an experience where all you have to focus on is getting your project done.

Every tool we create is designed to help you get your projects done quickly and easily. We’ve always tried to create an experience where all you have to focus on is getting your project done. Your time is valuable, and we want to make sure that you don’t waste any of it on figuring out the best way to cut foam board. That’s why we’ve worked hard at creating a calculator that will show you exactly how much material you’ll need for your project in seconds!

After receiving feedback from our customers and non-customers, one thing kept coming up: “I wish I’d known about this sooner!”

One thing we’ve heard over and over from our customers and non-customers is that they wish they’d known about the calculator earlier. The reason for this is because many people who are cutting foam board are doing it for the first time, and may not have all of the tools or experience to do so safely.

For example, while using our calculator, some people want advice on what kind of blade to use (such as a scoring tool or an Xacto knife), how much pressure to apply when cutting the board, how fast they should move their hand through the blade when cutting or where exactly on their hand they should place it. We’ve addressed these questions in our blog posts below:

  • How To Use Our Cutting Tool Without Slippage (https://www.foamboardcalculator.com/how-to-use/)
  • What Blade Should I Use? (https://www.foamboardcalculator.com/what-blade/)
  • How To Cut Foam Board With A Scoring Tool And An Exacto Knife (https://www.foamboardcalculator.com/how-to-cut/)

So we took steps to help create a better experience for everyone, starting with the project planning phase.

At Autodesk, we want to make sure that you have a great experience when using our tools and apps. In fact, we’ve made it easier than ever to plan your project. Our new design app features an interactive floor plan that lets you see what’s on your walls, where outlets are located, and where windows will be located before you even make a cut. We also provide more information about each tool so that users can learn how best to use them for their projects at home or in the office.

We know that it can sometimes be confusing figuring out what tools are right for cutting foam board at home or in the office—but now there are step-by-step instructions on how best utilize them in our new product pages!

Now is as good as time as ever: check out these products today:

You’ll notice that the calculator is not just a tool for determining how many tiles you’ll need.

You’ll notice that the calculator is not just a tool for determining how many tiles you’ll need. It also allows us to specify which tools we’re using, so that it can factor those in as well. This is an important part of our process because if you don’t have all of these tools at your disposal, fear not! There’s some great instructions in our blog posts on how to make cutting foam board with other methods or materials work.

The calculator allows you to specify which tools you’re using, so that it can factor those in as well.

One of the most important parts of cutting foam board with a tool is knowing what kind of tool you’re using. There are lots of different types, and they all have their pros and cons. For example:

  • A knife can be sharpened and used for fine details, but it’s also easy to cut yourself if you don’t know what you’re doing.
  • A utility knife is dulled so that it doesn’t accidentally slice into whatever surface it’s resting against, but this makes it less effective at cutting through thick layers of material.
  • Box cutters come in different shapes and sizes—some are thicker than others; some have higher edges than others—and each one will give you varying results depending on how much pressure you apply with your hand or wrist when cutting through the material (i.e., pushing down harder).
  • Scoring tools are designed specifically for making scores on foam boards so that they’ll break cleanly along those lines later on when folded into three dimensions (and sometimes four).

If you don’t have all of these tools, fear not! There’s some great instructions in our blog posts that’ll show you what else you can use instead.

If you don’t have all of these tools, fear not! There’s some great instructions in our blog posts that’ll show you what else you can use instead. One alternative is to use a box cutter, utility knife or craft knife. You can also opt for an X-acto knife if you’re looking for something more precise. If you want to go even smaller than that there’s always scissors!

If you’re using foam board with smaller cuts than 1/4 inch (for instance 1/8 inch or even 1/16 inch), then you should let us know in the comments section so we can update our records! Thanks!

It’s important to note that this calculator is not just a tool for determining how many tiles you’ll need. It also allows you to specify which tools you’re using, so that it can factor those in as well. For example, if your foam board is ¼ inch thick and you plan on cutting it with a hot knife instead of an electric cutter, then the calculator will tell you how many tiles your project will cover after allowing for a ¼ inch margin around each tile (we found this margin was needed because of uneven edges caused by some hot knives).

Conclusion
