Introduction
This is the best place for furniture bloggers, designers, architects and enthusiasts to find out about the best foam options available. The site provides extensive information on each foam and its uses. Readers can learn about the various methods of using foam and how it can be used in all types of furniture projects. This blog also reviews the other products that are often used for such projects, including fabrics and wallpapers.
Software and Hardware
Software:
You need a way to cut out your pieces and then assemble them. I recommend you use Silhouette Studio (you can download it at https://www.silhouetteamerica.com/software). It has a free version, which is great for beginners! You can also use the software to cut out your pieces and then export them as PDF files so that you can print them on regular paper.
Hardware:
I suggest using an electric knife to cut through all of the layers of foam at once, rather than cutting each layer individually with scissors or an X-Acto knife. Otherwise, this would take forever! Also consider getting a hot glue gun with extra glue sticks so that when you are done working on one project and want to start another one immediately (like me!), you aren’t waiting around too long while everything cools down again before getting started again with something new
Bedroom Furniture
There are many different ways to take advantage of the foam and make fun furniture. The bedroom is a great place to start. You can use foam to make beds, headboards and nightstands. Beds can be made in any shape or size you want! If you have children who love dinosaurs, then why not make the bed look like a dinosaur? Make multiple props for your child’s room so they feel like they are part of their favorite movie or book!
Headboards can be made in any shape as well, from flowers to stars and everything in between! If you don’t have time for such an elaborate project consider making a simple shape but decorating with colorful fabric around it so that it stands out even more than just plain white would look alone.”
Decorative Shelves
Shelves can be created in many shapes, sizes and colors. The easiest type of shelf is one that is rectangular or square. You can easily cut a piece of foam to fit the space where you want to place it, then glue or staple it down so it doesn’t move around while you’re working on your project.
If you want more of a challenge, try making shelves out of geometric shapes such as triangles and circles instead. These are great for hanging pictures on (hanging picture frames look good both horizontally and vertically) but they also make great standalone pieces that sit on furniture like end tables or nightstands!
Bean Bag Chairs
For a bean bag chair, you’ll need a few yards of foam and a few more for the cover. To start, cut out two circles that are about 2 feet in diameter. Using your circular saw or jig saw, cut along one side of the circle to create an opening for where your arms go. Next, measure out enough foam fabric to cover one side of your beanbag chair (you’ll want enough fabric so that it drapes over the edges). After you have cut out your fabric and secured it onto one side of the beanbag chair using spray adhesive or hot glue guns (our choice), you can then add another layer on top by cutting out some extra pieces from leftover foam sheets. You could also use felt or fleece if you’d prefer something softer than regular fabric—just make sure it doesn’t slip off easily!
Headboard
Headboard
There are times when you want to add a little bit of flare to your room, and you can do this by simply adding a headboard. You don’t need much money to make one either! Here’s how:
- Step 1: Gather the supplies needed for your project. For example, if you’re going to make an animal headboard (like I did), get some foam that is about 4 inches thick. If you have any leftover fabric from other projects, use it! The more creative your headboard looks the better!
- Step 2: Measure the length of your bed and then measure out how wide each character will be on their own part of the bed. Remember that we’re going off from where they start off at so if we’re making an elephant then we’ll start with its legs first instead of its trunk since those will probably not fit under another character’s nose/mane…or whatever else animal appendages there may be in question here today 😉
- Step 3: Cut out all pieces needed for each individual character; including eyes/nose/mouths etc.. If possible try not using any type of adhesive but rather staples or tape sparingly so none is wasted later on down line when attaching them back together again because let’s face it – sometimes things slip past our eyes unnoticed until later on down line which means having less supplies left over would really help everyone involved now wouldn’t it?
